A special thanks to Jane Eardley of Wood Cottage Bantams for a copy of the Breed Standards. Original Source.
Body: Short & broad, tapering towards the tail, breast carried high without giving the impression that the body slopes backwards.
Head: Relatively small, neither pointed nor chubby cheeked; face is red coloured, sparsely covered with hair-like feathers.
Comb: Single, relatively small with five regular serrations, straight & upright, fine in texture, red coloured, the blade not following the shape of the neck too closely & the back of the comb pointing upwards.
Beak: Short, strong, slightly curved at the end, colour to conform to the colour of plumage.
Wattles: Not quite of medium size, short & not drooping, rounded, both of identical length, red coloured.
Ear lobes: Relatively small, flat & fine in texture, pure white including the edges, oblong to almond shape.
Eyes: Relatively large with a lively expression, orange-red to brown-red in colour.
Neck: Relatively short, curved backwards, tapering to the top, covered in abundant hackle that reaches to the back & shoulders & covering the front of the neck as much as possible.
Back & Saddle: Very short, sloping to the back & continuing in a rounded, hollow line up to the tail without a sharp or angular transition; saddle short, broad & covered in plentiful long saddle hackle that connects up to the tail.
Breast: High & carried forward, full, broad & well rounded.
Wings: Relatively large & long, rounded at the tips, carried low & backwards without touching the ground- more so in the male than female, carried close to the body so the tips almost touch underneath the body.
Shoulders: Broad.
Tail: Carried upright & high(without any steepness) & well-spread, relatively large with rich plumage & well curved & developed sickles that are pointed at the tips & well developed tail coverts.
Abdomen: Compact with medium down coverage; hardly visible underneath the wings.
Thighs: short, well placed apart & viewed from the front parallel to each other.
Shanks & toes: Shanks short & free of feather with four medium sized toes. Colour to conform to colour of plumage.
Plumage: Well developed with abundant sickles, side hangers & coverts, down rather sparing.
Weight: Male 500 - 550 gram, Female 400 - 450 gram.
